Day 6 - The first day for us at the Batti nurseries and the first session for many to take lead of our first classes. Although there were a few nerves to begin with and a little mishap with coaches in the morning, we all managed to arrived prepped and on time to tackle the first day! It was just amazing and a really good chance to see what of a difference everyone makes to the children and how much they appreciate all our hard work. It makes it all worth it!

Today I visited Thirikovil nursery, which is about 1 hour 45 minutes from where we are staying. This meant an early start but we were all energised for our first pre-school visit in Batticaloa. Die to the rain (which was apocalyptic at times) there were slightly less children, but we still had 20 who arrived. We had fun telling the train story, and it was great to learn about the lunch project which has recently started there to make sure the children receive a nutritious meal every day. A great visit!
